I made this collage from magazines I have collected since the 1980s. The magazines have travelled all over the country with me-boxes and boxes of them. Boxes of magazines are not light-maybe it was me holding onto a part of my past for so many years. Vogue. Elle. Harper's Bazaar. Vanity Fair. I bought them because I was inspired by them. I wanted to design the clothes I saw. I wanted to look like Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Elle MacPherson, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, or Helena Christenson. One day I woke up and decided I was ready to let go. And share these images that impacted me for so long. I named this Opium after the Yves Saint Laurent perfume. Sophie Dahl lay naked on a bed of velvet in a controversial ad.
Prints on Luster paper.
