In light of recent decisions:
I want to tell you all that this is a safe space for everyone and meant to be uplifting and inspiring. Sadly, today, I can not inspire nor can I uplift. The crisis in America right now is too large a burden to ignore.
Abortion is legal in Texas until the fetal heart beat is detected which is as early as 6 weeks. Most women do not know they are pregnant at this point.
Abortion is illegal in Louisiana with the exception of saving the mother’s life. 10 years in prison and a fine up to $100,000.
A rape sentence can be only 5 years in Louisiana.
I will not claim to be an expert in this area-I do not know all the facts but I do know that it is wrong to limit ANY RIGHTS to a person’s body. It should NOT be the decision of anyone other than the individual. I am having a very hard time writing any of this as we watch children being murdered while AT SCHOOL. Not a single law about gun rights but here we are taking away what is left of human decency. I am simply outraged and can not wrap my head around how to tell my children that it is totally fine for anyone to go by an oozie but it is not ok to get an abortion-even if raped. Even if you get pregnant or get someone pregnant because you are an idiot teenager with raging hormones who has access to porn all day and night on their Goddamn cell phones. I know some of you will leave this email chain based on what I am writing and to be honest, I just don’t care.
